The Fabrikant Mads Clausen Foundation supports projects within education and research, sport and leisure, hospitals, institutions and health, as well as art and culture.
The Fabrikant Mads Clausen Foundation was established in 1960 by Mads Clausen, the founder of Danfoss. For many years he had donated large sums to various associations and organizations of the local community on the island of Als were Danfoss is based. He established the Foundation to formalize these charitable activities.
The Foundation’s capital was originally provided by Mads Clausen himself and has since been supplemented by donations from Danfoss and from the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.
The purpose of the Foundation is to provide charitable financial support for: education and research at scientific institutions, schools, colleges, libraries, etc.
Donations are primarily given to universities and other institutes of higher education for the acquisition of apparatus and equipment to be used in research, development and teaching within technology and the natural sciences. The extent to which applicant projects are related to Danfoss’ core businesses is taken into account.
Promotion of Danish cultural efforts at home and abroadSupport is primarily given to museums, local historical societies, art exhibitions, theaters, choirs and orchestras in southern Denmark. When providing support for projects in other countries, whether or not the artist, author, etc. is well known in Denmark is considered.
Charitable associations and institutionsSupport is primarily given to local branches of large national and international organizations within the social, humanitarian and environmental fields. In addition, support is provided for local patient associations and associations for the disabled.
Other non-profit initiatives deemed eligible by the Foundation’s board of directorsThis category includes local clubs and associations e.g. sports clubs, athletic associations, scout groups, voluntary fire brigades and pensioner associations.
The Foundation supports a variety of projects mainly in the communities surrounding Danfoss companies in the southern part of Denmark, but some communities abroad are also eligible for support, e.g. in the USA, China and India.
Individuals, travel, webpages, anniversary activities, conferences which have no relevance to Danfoss, research projects which have no relevance to Danfoss, commercial projects, building projects, political projects or religious projects.
